Metal Construction (Steel · Aluminium · Stainless)

From load-bearing frame to decorative detail: metalwork made from steel, aluminium and stainless steel adds both strength and character to a space.

What is it?

Metal construction is the turning of steel, aluminium and stainless-steel profiles, sheet and tube — by cutting, bending and welding — into a load-bearing frame or decorative fabrication. It is present wherever strength is needed and at the heart of the modern-industrial aesthetic.

  • Steel: High strength; protected with powder coating or galvanising. The standard for frames and load-bearers.
  • Aluminium: Light, corrosion-resistant, easy to work; profile systems and lightweight construction.
  • Stainless steel: Hygienic, highly corrosion-resistant; ideal for counters, kitchens and damp areas.

Types & varieties

Product forms

  • Profiles & tubes: Box profile, flat bar and tube — frames and leg systems.
  • Sheet & plate: Decorative panels, letters and perforated surfaces via laser/CNC cutting.
  • Castings & accessories: Feet, connectors and decorative elements.

Surface treatments

  • Powder coating (electrostatic): Durable, matt/gloss, wide colour range.
  • Brushing / satin: A silky matt texture on stainless.
  • Anodising: Corrosion resistance and colour on aluminium.
  • Polishing / mirror: A high-gloss reflective surface.

Use cases

Metal is used both in the hidden frame and in visible details:

  • Load-bearing frames for bars, counters and stands
  • Shelf, hanging and display systems (industrial look)
  • Stainless kitchen/service counters and back bar
  • Decorative screens, perforated panels and letters/signage
  • Legs, footrests and connectors

Advantages & disadvantages

Advantages

  • High strength and load capacity
  • Wide spans and a modern look with slim sections
  • Stainless: hygienic and corrosion-resistant
  • Unlimited colour and a durable finish with powder coating

Points to consider

  • Without the right surface treatment, steel corrodes
  • Requires post-weld correction and surface work
  • Requires weight and shipping planning

Care & cleaning

Powder-coated surfaces are wiped with a damp cloth; abrasives are avoided. Stainless steel is cleaned with a microfibre cloth along the grain; special stainless-care products can be used for fingerprints. Outdoors, the right grade (304/316) and regular cleaning prevent corrosion.

How we apply it at Standchi

In our workshop we produce metal frames and decorative fabrication with laser cutting, CNC bending and professional welding. We apply surface treatments such as powder coating, brushing and polishing to suit the project's concept, and combine metal-wood-glass from a single point.
