Why we don't quote without a detailed project

Every fit out supplier is asked the same thing on the first call: what will it cost? Here is the honest answer — and the reasoning behind it, so you can judge any quote you receive, not only ours.

The price is set by the material, not the dimensions

The same counter, at the same dimensions, can be built from a sheet that costs €100 and from one that costs €500. Same drawing, same size, a fivefold difference in the number. Anyone who gives you a price without asking which one you want is making that choice on your behalf.

Laminate, compact laminate, Solid Surface, stone, lacquered MDF and glass sit at completely different price levels — and the gap compounds, because a higher grade also demands more precise fabrication and slower handling.

The second driver is labour, and form decides labour

A flat panel is cut and it is finished. A curve, a radius, a 45° mitred joint — these are finished by hand. A job that would leave the workshop in twenty-five days takes thirty-two at exactly the same dimensions. Those seven days come out of nobody's pocket; they land on the invoice.

This is why two drawings covering an identical area can carry entirely different prices. The area is the same. The work is not.

This is why a number given over the phone is not a price

Every manufacturer turns your description into something different in their own head. You collect two quotes: one says €18.000, the other €11.000. Most of the time that gap is not a discount.

Example. In one quote the carcass is compact laminate, in the other it is chipboard. In one the LED drivers are concealed inside the joinery, in the other the cable runs visible. In one the shelves are adjustable and the vitrines lock, in the other they are fixed and open. You cannot see any of that in the quote. You see it on delivery.

A lower price is rarely bad faith. It is usually a different job — and nobody described it to you in those terms, because there was nothing to describe it against.

A real project is the only antidote

If you hold a project with a material schedule, you can ask three manufacturers the same question, and the three numbers that come back are genuinely comparable. Without it, you are comparing three different jobs without knowing it.

The drawing is the contract. It is what fixes the scope, and it is the only thing you can hold a supplier to afterwards. Everything else is memory of a conversation.

A design fee is not a cost, it is insurance

Set against the total of the work, a design fee is a small line. But that drawing pays for itself several times over the moment it prevents a single misunderstanding from surfacing later — and misunderstandings surface after production has started, when they are most expensive to fix.

This is what we have been telling clients for years: in professional work nobody calls a design fee expensive, because what it returns is larger than what it costs. The money you save by skipping the drawings is usually the money you spend on the surprise.

So we offer two routes

If you have your own architect: have the project drawn in detail, with a material schedule, send it to us, and we will price it to scope — not as a range, as a number.

If you don't: we draw it. Our design fee is fixed and published, because there is no reason for it to be a negotiation.

Design and project fee

ScopeFee
Mall kiosk · product display unit€1.250
Café · restaurant · store · showroom€2.500
Multi-level, special-construction or large-scale projects€2.500+ — priced to the project

If you also order the manufacturing from us, the whole of this fee is deducted from the production invoice. So for a client who goes all the way through, the design is effectively free; for a client who only wants drawings, it is honest paid work rather than a loss leader.

Prices are in EUR and cover design only. Freight, customs duty and destination taxes are separate and are quoted by destination.

What the fee covers

That last point is deliberate. We would rather you hold a project you can use anywhere than feel tied to us by a drawing you already paid for.

Trade show stands, and renovating a stand you already own

Standchi handles permanent venues: cafés, restaurants, stores, showrooms and mall kiosks — designed and manufactured in Istanbul, shipped worldwide, installed on site with our guidance.

If your project is an exhibition or trade show stand, or you already own a stand and want to know whether it can be renovated instead of rebuilt, that is a different problem with different variables — and it belongs to our parent company, Stand Dünyası, which has been building stands in Istanbul since 2005.

Let's talk about your project

Send us your drawings and we will price to scope. No drawings yet? Tell us the space and what you sell, and we will draw it.
