What is it?

CNC and laser cutting are methods of cutting, engraving and shaping material to millimetric precision with computer-controlled machines. They are the basis of any fabrication requiring repeatable, flawless and complex workmanship.

  • CNC router: Cuts, engraves, grooves and shapes wood, MDF, acrylic and composite.
  • Laser cutting: Very fine, sharp and detailed cutting in metal, acrylic, wood and MDF.
  • CNC bending/machining: Precise bending and drilling operations on metal profiles.

Types & varieties

Methods

  • CNC router (milling): 3D forms, grooves, engraving and panel sizing.
  • Laser cutting: Finely detailed patterns, letters and perforated panels.
  • CNC bending & drilling: Precise machining in metal construction.

What does it make?

Decorative screens and perforated panels, three-dimensional letters and logos, precise furniture parts, moulds and templates, and cutting/engraving details are produced.

Use cases

In any fabrication that demands precision and repeatability:

  • Decorative screens, perforated panels and partitions
  • Three-dimensional letters, logos and signage
  • Precise furniture and carcass parts
  • Brand walls and decorative cut details
  • Moulds, templates and repeated batch parts

Advantages & disadvantages

Advantages

  • Millimetric precision and flawless repeatability
  • Easy production of complex patterns and forms
  • Fast transition from design to production
  • Consistent quality across different materials

Points to consider

  • Correct drawing/file preparation is essential
  • Very thick/special materials can have method limits
  • Surface finishing after cutting is a separate step

Care & cleaning

Since CNC and laser are production methods, care depends on the final material of the produced part (wood, metal, acrylic). The care advice for the paint, lacquer or coating applied after cutting applies.

How we apply it at Standchi

With the CNC router and cutting equipment in our workshop we turn design directly into production. We fabricate decorative panels, three-dimensional letters and precise furniture parts to the millimetre, and complete them from a single point with paint, lacquer and assembly.
