Nature and permanence: marble, granite and quartz-composite worktops give a space a timeless, upmarket texture.
Natural stone (marble, granite, travertine) and quartz composite are hard, durable and prestigious materials used on worktops, bars and decorative surfaces. Natural stone offers a unique pattern in every slab; quartz is a homogeneous, lower-maintenance alternative.
Different looks are achieved with polished (gloss), honed (matt), brushed (textured) and aged finishes; edges are worked straight, chamfered or profiled.
| Hardness | High (very high with granite and quartz) |
|---|---|
| Porosity | Natural stone is porous (needs sealing); quartz is non-porous |
| Heat resistance | Natural stone high; avoid hot contact on quartz |
| Thickness | 20 · 30 mm; thickened at edges by lamination |
| Surface | Polished, honed (matt), brushed, aged |
| Maintenance | Natural stone needs periodic sealing; quartz is maintenance-free |
On surfaces that need an upmarket look and durability:
Natural stone is wiped with a neutral-pH cleaner; acidic liquids (lemon, vinegar, wine) must be removed immediately and the surface sealed periodically. Quartz composite is non-porous; a damp cloth and general cleaner are enough — use a trivet for very hot pans.
We engineer natural-stone and quartz worktops in cooperation with trusted stone workshops, with the right thickness and edge profile. We run measurement, cutting and installation in coordination with our wood/metal carcass fabrication so the worktop sits perfectly in the space.
